Inktober
In 2018, I participated in the inktober challenge by drawing one flowering plant a day.
Inktober is a social media drawing challenge that happens every October. The creator of the challenge provides prompts and artists create ink drawings using those prompts.
I completely ignored the prompts and just did my own thing this time. Every day I looked up a flower, and drew it on a big piece of paper. It was a super fun exercise that helped me push my skills further. You can probably tell which flower I drew first!
The original piece - can you tell which flower I drew on day 1?
Circle of Flower - After some photoshop, I ended up with this pretty composition.
I liked most of the flowers I drew, but felt the composition was lacking. I scanned the piece and worked in photoshop to rearrange my favorite flowers in a better way. That’s going to become a minimalist print that I will hang somewhere in my house.
I haven’t done this challenge again. I think it is a very helpful exercise when you are struggling with your creativity, however, the prompts sometimes are just too exoteric or weird for my taste. Call me square :)

You can print your own copy of the art work! When you are ready to print here are some tips:
Choose a heavier printer paper than usual. If it’s too thin, you won’t get as much contrast.
Choose “Best quality” option in your printer so blacks are deep and full of contrast.
If you have any questions, reach out to me. I love to help.
After you are all set, share an image of the printable in your space! Tag @criskober on instagram. I will be thrilled to see it!
