Birthday wishes with Handmade Cards
In the beginning of 2020, I gave myself a challenge to make 54 videos in 1 year. If you lived on planet earth that year you will be well aware that there was a pandemic and people lost their minds among many other things - myself included. I ended up pausing my project indeterminately and now, in 2022 I still haven’t gotten back to the full swing of things. This post, was originally written in January 2020. Enjoy the pre-pandemic voice :)

2020 is here, and with it a bunch of hope and excitement. Even though I no longer subscribe to new year resolutions, I still get that nice feeling that the beginning of the new year brings. It feels like it’s a new chance to start something new or become someone better. One of the things I have been wanting to become better at is remembering people’s birthday.
Growing up, we didn’t give much importance to birthdays at all. On our birthdays we would get a “happy birthday!” and call it done. No parties, no gifts, no cake. To me that was the norm and I am ok with that to this day. As long as I can remember my age to fill in forms, I am ok. I don’t care about my birthday. But, I have come to learn and realize that many people I love do care and may feel hurt if they are not remembered on their birthday. With that in mind, in 2020 I am going to wish happy birthday to as many friends as I can. I don’t know everyone’s birthdays so I will go out asking.
To make it even more special, I want to send them handmade birthday cards. I always find myself scrambling the day of someone’s birthday to get them a card. And that embarrasses me! I usually end up getting a mass produced card at Walmart for lack of time to create something. There is nothing wrong with store bought cards, but card making is something I enjoy so it makes sense to make a bunch of them and have them ready to go.
You can see the first one in the video below.
